Rehab 231 Crew & Unit
The Rehab 231 team is made up of dedicated volunteers who operate and maintain the unit, ensuring it is ready for any major incident. These members staff the vehicle, manage supplies, and provide direct support to firefighters and civilians during emergencies. The unit itself is a repurposed ambulance purchased in 2024 after the Blum fire highlighted the need for a larger, more capable rehab vehicle. It carries medical supplies such as oxygen, an AED, and materials for treating minor injuries, along with food, snacks, water, electrolyte drinks, and comfort items. The crew works together to make sure firefighters and affected residents have what they need during difficult moments.
Rehab 231 On‑Scene Support
On scene, Rehab 231 plays a critical role in keeping firefighters healthy during long, demanding operations — especially extended grass fires that can last for days. The unit provides hydration, nutrition, cooling or warming areas, and replacement gear like dry gloves, hoods, and socks to help firefighters recover between rotations. Beyond supporting the fire crews, Rehab 231 also assists community members impacted by incidents such as house fires, offering blankets, water, food, and basic care while they wait for additional emergency services. Its presence ensures both responders and residents receive immediate support during high‑stress events.
Fundraising & Community Support
Our WBVFD support members play a vital role in strengthening the connection between the fire department and the community. These volunteers help plan and coordinate the department’s fundraising efforts and annual social events, ensuring that residents have opportunities to engage with and support their local fire service. Throughout the year, support members assist with hosting our flu shot clinic, organizing the resident appreciation breakfast, preparing goodie bags for the annual POA meeting, coordinating electronic recycling events, and managing our yearly fundraiser. Their work helps sustain department programs and fosters a strong, supportive relationship with the community we serve.
